Amplifying the voices of care experienced young people in Wales

The Heart of Voices from Care Cymru

We’re the national voice for care-experienced children and young people creating change, connection, and community through youth-led action and support.

Who We Are

We are an all Wales independent charity for care-experienced children and young people. Our work is led by lived experience and powered by the voices of those who’ve been in care.

Our Mission

We exist to make sure every care-experienced young person is heard, supported, and able to thrive. Everything we do promotes equality, rights, and opportunity.

Our Community

We bring care-experienced people together to connect, learn, and belong. It’s a place to share stories, build confidence, and feel part of something bigger.

Our Impact

Young people shape our projects and policies to create lasting change in Wales. Their voices influence decisions, improve services, and inspire a more caring future.

Proud to be me

Proud to Be Me is a celebration of care experience across Wales — a day to recognise identity, resilience, and achievement. The event creates a safe, empowering space for care-experienced children and young people to come together, share their stories, and be inspired by one another. Through workshops, creative sessions, and performances, it promotes confidence, pride, and a sense of belonging within the care community.

Young Ambassadors & Participation Network

Young Ambassadors lead change across Wales by representing care-experienced young people in national forums and meetings with Welsh Ministers. Through participation groups, events, and campaigns, young people share their experiences to influence real decisions and shape the future of care.

Getting Ready

The Getting Ready Project supports young people as they move towards adulthood, leaving care, and living independently. It offers practical help with life skills like budgeting, cooking, housing, and managing wellbeing, alongside guidance on education, training, and work. Through workshops, mentoring, and peer support, young people build the confidence and tools they need to take their next steps and thrive on their own terms.
